The TCL 6 Series 2020 is a very good overall TV that's a nice improvement over its predecessor, the TCL 6 Series/R625 2019. It has an outstanding contrast ratio thanks to its VA panel, but that means it has narrow viewing angles. There's a full-array local dimming feature, but sadly, it results in noticeable blooming around bright objects. It gets bright enough to combat glare and to bring out highlights in HDR, and it has decent reflection handling if you want to place it in a bright room. Its response time is really quick, resulting in minimal motion blur, and there's a Black Frame Insertion feature to improve the appearance of motion. It has low input lag, but it may be too high for competitive gaming. Lastly, it supports both HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and it displays a great wide color gamut for HDR content.
It has a 120Hz refresh rate and it has support for variable refresh rate (VRR). It's not advertised to support FreeSync and currently, we don't have any accurate way of testing for HDMI Forum VRR support. Once we do, we'll retest the TV and update the review. Read more about it here.
