The Nokia 8 Sirocco launched at the high price of 750. It has come down quite a bit since then for example, its 520 on Amazon.fr. Its similarly discounted in the UK too, down to £440. But thats not the strange part.
If you hit Buy now on your regional Nokia.com site, you get redirected back to the homepage. Not to mention that the prices shown on the official site are way off what local retailers are offering.
Thats not quite the case in India the indicated price is lower (INR 37,000) than Flipkarts (INR 50,000), but hitting the buy button still disappoints. Its not a weird redirect this time, you just get currently not available.
So, has HMD discontinued the Sirocco? It certainly seems so. And while its sad to see a phone venture off into oblivion, this is the cycle of life one phone dies, another is born.
In this case, were perhaps looking at the Nokia 8.1, which graced Geekbench with a Snapdragon 710 chipset. Seems a bit of a downgrade, doesnt it? Even compared to the vanilla Nokia 8 it replaces. But the Sirocco model deserves to be swapped out for a proper flagship like the Nokia 9 and the reborn PureView moniker.
