A taskbar is a useful tool for navigation.
On the flip side, it can also crowd your desktop with unnecessary clutter. If you’re not the biggest fan of using the taskbar, I have good news for you: it’s pretty easy to hide it in Windows 10.
How to hide the taskbar in Windows 10
- Right-click anywhere on the taskbar
- Select “Taskbar settings”
- Click to toggle the switch under “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode”
In this quick and easy tutorial, we walk through the steps you need to take in order to hide the taskbar on your Windows 10 device.
To hide the taskbar, start on your desktop screen.
Step 1: Right-click on an open space anywhere on the taskbar
The first step is to hover your mouse anywhere over the taskbar and right-click. This action will automatically open up a menu, which we will go over in the next step.
Step 2: Select “Taskbar settings”
You can see that you have a variety of options on where to go next. Select Taskbar settings from this menu.
Selecting “Taskbar settings” will take you to the next screen that lists all of the taskbar settings and preferences.
Step 3: Click the switch under “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode”
On this screen, the next step is to click the switch under Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode.
Once selected, the switch will turn blue.
If you’re using a tablet, you have the same option to auto-hide the taskbar by selecting the option below that reads Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode.
This will automatically hide the taskbar. To access it, all you have to do is hover your mouse over the bottom of the screen (or whichever side of the screen your taskbar was originally located on).
Note: If you find yourself missing the convenience of having the taskbar on your screen, you can always undo this action by toggling the switch to say “Off.” |
No taskbar, no problem
That’s all there is to it. Whether you like or hate the taskbar, Windows 10 makes it easy to switch between both options to find what will work best for you.
